Day three in Lake Tahoe - Tahoe Donner Downhill

We have a really great routine down for our snowboarding days! I make breakfast and lunch while Josh organizes the room and packs up our snowboarding gear. Lisa generously gave us one of her free passes to Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area so we decided to go there today!

We took this one photo before the camera died...

Today, Josh stayed with me on the green runs for most of the day. I'm still practicing falling leaf and J turns, and Josh is practicing riding switch (with his non-dominant foot)... so we both look really silly falling down the hill! The mountain was completely empty; probably because it's such a tiny place but also because it was really cold today and the snow was pretty hard. Falling definitely hurt!

Josh took me up a bigger chairlift and gave me the option of a steep blue or a green trail... I didn't know what a "trail" meant, but now I do! And it sucked! Very flat and not very fun. Maybe it's more fun when you have more control over your snowboard, but Josh didn't even enjoy it. After lunch, Josh took me up on my first blue run... it was terrifying! Very steep, but I'm glad that he pushed me to go down it because I was able to just falling leaf most of it :) Much better than that trail run!!

As you can see from the trail map, the mountain is quite small but it was more than enough to keep us occupied for the day. Josh also practiced in the terrain park... I was very impressed until I saw an instructor take a group of children over the same bumps :)

Lisa had asked us to pick up some chicken so we stopped at the store to pick some up, then went home to change into bathing suits before heading to the Trout Creek Recreation Center. Lisa left us her guest passes and we spent almost two hours in the outdoor hot tub at Trout Creek... it was amazing!

For dinner, Lisa taught us a really easy and delicious recipe for chicken cordon bleu! We wanted to thank Lisa somehow because she's been such a wonderful host, so she got Josh to fix her Netflix and Pandora accounts on her TV. It seemed like a simple problem but she was ecstatic that it was fixed!

My high was meeting Lisa. She has been such a great host! Josh's high was snowboarding... again! And hitting the baby "terrain park."Josh and I shared the same low... that trail run was no fun and very frustrating... My "ho" was Josh's adventure in the steam room... he said he was going to stay in the steam room for ten or so minutes but came back out after 60 seconds and said that I had to check it out because it makes you feel like you're going to die. I did not check it out but Josh's description was hilarious! Josh's "ho" was the hot tub party: we were in the "quiet relaxation" hot tub but a man and two women were extremely talkative!
