Today has been a pretty slow day. Josh took advantage of the slightly warmer weather and went for a run in the early morning; then we packed up and got out and unfortunately did not find any small towns to visit along the way.
In Houston, we biked around Memorial Park and learned that it's not super cyclist-friendly!
We met up with our host, Matt, around 6 PM. Matt and I worked together at Schlumberger in Houston a few summers ago, and since then he's graduated with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Oklahoma and now works for BP. He took us to dinner at Chuy's, a Tex-Mex restaurant, where he treated us to spicy Mexican food and delicious margaritas!
After dinner, we headed back to Matt's fantastic apartment and enjoyed a few craft beers before falling asleep in the living room. Overall, a pretty relaxing day compared to the rest of our trip!
Josh's high was Matt generously taking us out to dinner, and my high was just getting to see Matt again and reminisce about summer 2008 when we worked for Schlumberger. Josh's low was being disappointed by Lafayette.. there wasn't a whole lot to do there and unfortunately we didn't really "experience" the city. My low was biking around Memorial Park; like I said, it wasn't very bike-friendly! Josh and I shared the same "ho"... in Memorial Park, we accidentally went down a real off-road trail and got passed a few times by actual mountain bikers decked out in actual biking gear... it was pretty embarrassing, since we were in Sperrys and ski gloves!
