This morning we woke up and came out of our tent to this fantastic view!
This is a photo taken from the patio of our tent facing into the valley.
Jeff made us a great breakfast and gave us a list of a few things to do in San Diego. Josh and I decided to do the first thing on the list so we headed down to the Pacific Beach boardwalk and biked about five miles round trip along the water... and of course dipping our toes into the (cold!) Pacific Ocean!
We biked into the college area by the boardwalk and found $2 fish tacos. We got a ton of food from this little Mexican stand!
Unfortunately Josh had some things to accomplish online so we camped out at a Starbucks for the remainder of the day. We encountered typical Californian traffic as we headed back to Rancho Sante Fe around rush hour, but luckily it didn't last very long.
We enjoyed Heather's home made chicken soup for dinner with the kids and later tried (and failed) to tell a bedtime story... our imagination is pretty terrible! We watched "The Social Network" with Heather and Jeff before trekking down to our tent to sleep for the night.
Josh's high for today was the view when we opened our tent in the morning, and my high was putting my toe in the Pacific for the first time! Josh's low was hitting rush hour traffic, and my low is actually the same as Josh's "ho"... during story time, Avery jumped from her bed on to my leg and landed right on my knee. It turned into a really awkward story time when tears started welling up in my eyes...
